2 Solutions Homogeneous
2 or more substances in a single phase (solids, liquid, or gas) Particles are small, do not block light in liquids, cannot be filtered Consists of 2 parts Solute – substance dissolved Solvent – substance doing the dissolving

3 Suspensions Heterogeneous Particles are large, block light, settle out
Particles are more or less evenly dispersed through liquid or gas Particles can be filtered out

4 colloids Homogeneous Particles are intermediate in size, between solution & suspension, cannot be filtered Tyndall Effect - Particles block & scatter light Brownian Motion – Particles are in random motion which causes tyndall effect
