The Code of Hammurabi By:Jillian Kelton

The Code The code of Hammurabi was a law code. Some people thought they were fair, and some thought they were cruel. Most were cruel to women.

My Opinion Personally, I think his laws were cruel and fair. Some of them were cruel and harsh, and some were very fair and reasonable.

His cruel laws If you accuse someone falsely, then you shall be put to death. If you give someone the wrong haircut, then your hands shall be cut off. If you steal someone’s son, then you shall be put to death. If you look upon someone else’s property, then you shall be thrown into a fire If a man knocks out the teeth of his equal, then his teeth shall be knocked out, too.

His fair laws If his brother breaks his arm, he can break his.
If someone knocks out your teeth, then you may knock out his. Point: If they do something to you, you can do something to them.

The “Rosetta Stone”

Summary I think Hammurabi’s laws were both cruel and fair. The harsh ones were mostly about death and violence, and the fair ones were mostly about what should have happened, but not in a mean way….. Like hide and seek!

The End!!!
