What is team building anyway?
The Oxford Dictionary defines it as: the action or process of causing a group of people to work together effectively as a team, especially by means of activities and events designed to increase motivation and promote cooperation.

Don’t we already do that?
Teams are inherently formed whenever there are groups of people working on common themes Friendships can create good teams People tend to work better when they like what they do Natural leaders may emerge within the group

Why the need for team building?
Teams should be structured Teams should consist of members who are capable of completing the task Every task is important Leadership is part of the team’s structure

Multidirectional Communication Open dialogue Mutual respect and common courtesy Focus on the mission Every team member on the same footing

Conflict Resolution Consider everyone’s viewpoints
Calm, non-defensive responses Readiness to move past the conflict without holding resentments or anger Seeking compromise Facing conflict is best resolution
