Prospects - EVERYONE It’s the right thing to do, want networking opportunities, exposure to resources, boss told them to Chamber advocates for businesses, workforce, growth; explain how all benefit not just members. DO NOT compare it to gym membership “you get out what you put in” Fair Share – based on business size and number of FTE; Tiered Dues – levels of benefits based on dues (menu); Transactional – based on per rep; Our structure Can’t attend events, don’t agree with state or U.S. Chamber decisions, too costly

5 Retention New Member Orientation – Invite prospects
Create a retention plan Engagement Quality vs. Quantity Host a member orientation (Chamber 101) every couple months. Invite new members, replacement members, current members AND prospects Having a detailed, written plan will lay the foundation to help reinforce the WHY of joining. Welcome call, note, visit etc. and touchpoints throughout the first months will improve retaining the member. Not all members want the same thing – know what segment they fall into (see chart) Kyle Sexton. Networking events, professional/leadership development trainings, round table/councils. They want to feel valued and SEE the value. Offer more benefits without increased cost (MIC). Strengthen with communications, social media, ribbon cuttings, ask for feedback via survey. It costs less the retain members than to recruit to replace lost members

Essential skills for life and work. 31st in progress – members and prospects Employers with 30+ employees meet quarterly Employers with less than 30 meet quarterly Collaborative effort with the Jackson Area Chamber and MO Chamber to create a common voice for the advancement of the manufacturing industry in our region and to provide collective input from area manufacturers. Training on various topics offered to membership during lunch Partnered with the University to offer networking and professional development events. Job shadowing and internships Partnered with Codefi to help bridge the gap for the estimated shortage of 1million coders by 2020

10 Women’s Network Network dedicated to area business women launched in 2016 Provide mentoring, professional and leadership growth opportunities through networking, workshops and speaker series luncheons Members of the chamber and employees of member businesses The Cape Chamber Women’s Network works to strengthen the community by providing an environment for mentoring, professional development and leadership growth opportunities for women. Women’s Network hosts quarterly speaker series luncheons and social mixers to provide opportunities for continued development and networking. We are working to create a welcoming atmosphere that cultivates opportunities for those seeking advancement in areas such as public speaking, board involvement and networking. Recent events include lunch with Missouri’s First Lady, Personal Safety Workshop with CGPD, Community Update Panel. 22 events to date with over 1500 attendees – avg. attendance 70
