8. Web Coverage Service Technical Guidance based on WCS 2.0
Suitable for multi-dimensional coverage data
Typical examples
1-D temperature (time series or vertical profile)
2-D elevation, precipitation, imagery, x/y/t image timeseries and x/y/z geophysical voxel data
4-D x/y/z/t weather data.
Advantages
Powerful operations for ‘trimming’ and ‘slicing’
Support for heterogeneous coverage structures
Disadvantages
No backwards compatibility between
WCS 2.0 is not (yet) widely supported
Limited (still) client support
