Vocabulary – Rashad II jittery – (adj.) extremely tense and nervous; jumpy I was so jittery that I spilled whatever was left of the juice on myself dabbed – (verb) to pat or tap gently with something soft “Good morning,” he said, eyeing me as I dabbed juice into my gown. spirometer – (noun) an instrument for measuring lung capacity while in the hospital. Dad sat there staring at the side table where my phone and the spirometer were. scrapping – (verb) to fight or quarrel These two were just throwing down, scrapping. yelped – (verb) to give a quick, high pitched cry often indicating pain. “What!” I yelped. dumbfounded – (verb) to make speechless with amazement. I just sat there, dumbfounded. stern – (adj.) firm; strict or uncompromising; doesn’t give in to other’s arguments. Sure, he was stern, and sometimes judgmental. keen – (adj.) eager, interested; enthusiastic My second thought was that I would have to go to court, which I already wasn’t too keen on.
