“Everything in nature is formed upon the sphere, the cone and the cylinder. One must learn to paint these simple figures and then one can do all that he may wish.” Paul Cézanne © Copyright Kapow! 2017

Before we can learn to draw we must learn to see like an artist
Everything in our world is made from simple shapes. These are the building blocks of our world. If you can learn to identify these shapes it will really help to improve your drawing skills. Squares & rectangles Circles & ovals Triangles Straight lines Wavy lines © Copyright Kapow! 2017

Seeing Shapes Using the pictures in the following slides:
Can you see the simple shapes that you would use to draw them? Try to sketch out these shapes using a sharp pencil and light, sketchy lines. Label the shape with its name and the name of the object you are drawing. © Copyright Kapow! 2017

Seeing Shapes Around us
Take a walk around the school and playground and look for objects to draw. Find the simple shapes within the objects and sketch them out lightly with a sharp pencil. Label the objects with their name. If you feel confident add some details too! © Copyright Kapow! 2017
