Tenosynovitis/tendinosis Tendon rupture—longitudinal split (mostly peroneus brevis) Ankle instability (anterior talofibular ligament, calcaneofibular ligament) Cavovarus deformity—congenital or acquired

Take-home messages Recognize the potential for peroneal tendon injuries after ankle sprain The fibular rim fracture is usually diagnostic of a torn superior peroneal retinaculum Solid stable repair leads to good results
