“purposeful collection of …. work that tells the story of…efforts, progress and achievement in a given area”

7. Why Portfolio? storage of profession development documentation.
Multiple portfolios can be easily created based on use case, e.g., educational requirement, evaluation, accompany manuscript and presentation submissions
Decreased time involved in compiling the portfolio
Elimination of cumbersome paper-based portfolio development processes
Real-time capture of professional development activities
Ubiquitous access via the internet
Ease of distribution including all supporting documents via hypertext link

Quality Improvement = focus on systems, processes, functional, satisfaction, or clinical outcomes. QI is designed to eliminate error
Nursing Research = answer questions and develop new knowledge using a scientific method
