2 The New Clemson 2020 Undergraduate Experience, Second to None
Expanded offerings of 300- and 400-level courses. No more blocked schedules for required and faculty-recommended courses  Number of seminar classes with fewer than 20 students increased from 18% to 30% of total offerings New workstations and 4,200 square feet of new workspace for students to engage in remote research and team-based project activities with computers, peripherals, specialized software, and data bases provided by the College I-LEAD undergraduate leadership initiative staffed and available to every student All upper level students offered faculty managed internship or co-op opportunities An executive-in-residence each semester, providing workshops and engagement with undergraduate classes and interns Faculty-managed career development programs that include short courses on professional etiquette, networking, and improving interpersonal skills A stand-alone Washington internship program available to all undergraduate students Visiting scholars dedicated to undergraduate teaching excellence Enhanced opportunities for international educational experiences A College-based study lounge and resource center A funded Dean’s Student Advisory Council to monitor progress toward goals New Associate Dean will: Oversee the College based internship programs Recruitment and management of executive in residence Management of college wide leadership program Management of enhanced computer aided laboratories Ombudsmen for students, liason with faculty Oversee NY, DC, Brussels intership programs for undergraduates Creation development, and ultimate oversight of a student based faculty evaluation and reporting system to the Dean Advisory Council would report to Dean and have some discretionary funds at their disposal. This task is already in early stage development. New Academic Unit, sole purpose is to bring in for short temporary appointments, world-class, highly respected, proven teachers who will visit and provide undergraduate instruction. 2
