League Pre-set schedule of scrimmages May or may not have end- of-league event Awards optional Scrimmage One-time two team/program competition No awards Invitational Multi-program Awards Structure, officials, etc. Please let us know by ing of any scrimmages, leagues, or invitationals you are planning on so we can recognize all the wonderful things you are doing at the local level!

What is a league and why is it a good idea?
Small in numbers Relatively low time commitment Travel aspect without overnight Similar to other sports and organizations Build friendly rivalries

Meet Jeremy Jeremy wants to hold an event and invite a couple of programs for competition Jeremy needs to think of How big? What type of competition? Who to invite? Sport? Equipment? Food? $$ Other resources

Jeremy’s First Step After Jeremy decides to host an invitational, his first step should be to contact his Local Coordinator: SONC will provide support, but the Local Coordinator should know of his plans to host!

How big should Jeremy go?
As big (or small) as you want Facility size matters! Schedule will depend on number of teams/athletes

Who should Jeremy invite?
Neighboring counties Counties that reciprocate (you host soccer, they host swimming) Smaller counties with less opportunities

What sport or sports should be featured?
Your choice! In season or out of season One without a state-level event (e.g. flag football, sailing) Unified Sports Perpetually on the quota chopping block (swimming, golf, tennis) Could depend on facilities around your area Sport Development Team assistance Officials (especially for soccer & basketball)

What if Jeremy doesn’t have the equipment to host?
Check with the facility Check with SONC – we have tons of equipment! Cones, basketballs, tents, signs, stopwatches, bocce courts, etc. Some programs may share Ask programs attending what equipment they have and are willing to bring!

What about lunch?? Schedule a food delivery or pick-up
Get programs to bring their own food Find someone to donate food!

Events cost $$ Programs should contribute, even if nominal charge ($1 per person). Offer an incentive (event t-shirt, lunch included, etc)
