2 Use simple sentences with a few limited details
Use simple sentences with a few limited details. Use “I like”, “It has” and “It is.” Use “and” and “with.” Use simple phrases (3 words or less) and lists. Include a few spelling errors and awkward wording like “Me like.” Use only a few SIMPLE words. NO sentences. Include a few spelling errors like a kid would make. These cards are the directions for each group. Cut out these cards. Group students. You do not have to use intermediate mid and high for a level 1 class. They write their answers in English on a large poster or piece of butcher paper. Option: Ask them to attach their card to the poster. Use sentences with simple details (5 W’s). Explain your opinion with “because” and “but.” Ask a simple question. Use detailed sentences in one simple paragraph. Combine some sentences and use transitions like “for example.” Include a few errors like wrong prepositions. Retell a past experience in a paragraph with a topic sentence. Use compound sentences, idiomatic phrases and VERY descriptive vocabulary (jargon).
