Evaporative Pad with Flute Angle 45/15
GSI will be using this new flute angle 45/15 as the standard evaporative pad. 45/45 flute angle will be offered on customer request. Part numbers for the new Evaporative pad 45/15 are as below: April 2014

The major differences – outlook
45/15 45/45 Side view of 45/45 Slower intake of airflow Side view of 45/15 The flute angles improves airflow of air into the house in a speedier manner. 45 45 April 2014

Advantages of 45/15 lesser fans to achieve same CFM
1. Reduces static pressure Reduction of static pressure allows: High velocity of air (air flow) to travel through the pad b. Enables fan to operate at its optimum performance - use lesser energy to operate the fan lesser fans to achieve same CFM higher fan efficiency, improvement in durability & life-span c. Better ventilation April 2014

Advantages of 45/15 2. Improves Air Flow
The flute angle improves air flow through the pad that results in: The increase of tunnel air speed - the air will travel further in distance (better ventilation result) - hence lesser fan energy to stir the air Wind-chill cooling effect - comfortable cooling effect on bird that increases liveability. Advantages of 45/15 3. Lesser evap pads with 45/15
Given a test scene requirement of airflow 3.2m/s , The 45/15 will require lesser pads comparatively to 45/45 to achieve the same airflow, as the 45/45 is slower at airflow intake. Lesser pads required = lesser investment cost. April 2014

Advantages of 45/15 4. Performance 45/15 Comparison condition:
Air velocity at 500 fpm (2.54m/s) 6”Evaporative Pad 1 Pa = in.wc 1 fpm = m/s 45/15 45/45 Aspect Data Performance Pressure drop (in.wc) 0.08 0.32 +75% Cooling Efficiency (%) 70 82 -12% The drop in cooling efficiency is compensated by achieving a higher pressure drop , lower static pressure. This means use lesser fans to achieve same cfm. April 2014
