Bellwork: Monday

7.NS.2a 7.NS.2b 7.NS.2c All Operations Learning Goal: I will add, subtract, multiply, and divide integers. Success Criteria: I know I have it when…   I can describe situations where opposites make zero. I can use a vertical and/or horizontal number line. I can use a number line, visual, or rules to add integers. I can use a number line, visual, or rules to subtract integers. I can use a number line, visual, or rules to multiply integers. I can use a number line, visual, or rules to divide integers.

Addition: If the signs are the same, add the numbers together and use the same sign for the sum. If the signs are different, subtract the absolute values of the numbers and take the sign of the number with the larger absolute value. Example: = (-4)= Subtraction: Add the opposite (change to an addition problem and then follow rules for addition. KEEP the 1st Number Subtraction becomes ADDITION Take the OPPOSITE of the second number Example: -7 – (-9) = (-4)= Multiplication: same signs, positive product Different signs, negative product + Example: -7 (-9) = (-4)= Division: same signs, positive quotient Different signs, negative quotient + Example: -72 /-9 = / -4=

Practice -17 + (-9)= 13 – (-12)= -11(-5)= -28/4= 9(-4)= 18/(-3)=
-17 – 18= =

All Operations Worksheet due tomorrow When finished, try these challenge problems on the back (Must show work or explain) # #2

Stations You will be assigned a number to start at.
Work out the station you are at with your group. Once the timer goes off, look around the room for the answer you just found. Go to that answer. The problem above is the new problem your group will work on. Repeat this process 

1. Sandy is playing a card game. At the end of the first round, she has 12 points. During the second round, she loses 20 points. Which expressions represent the total points Sandy has at the end of the second round? Choose ALL that apply. 12 – (-20) -12 + (-20) -12 – 20 12 + (-20) 12 – 20

2. Determine if each quotient is correct. Choose True or False for each equation. a) -7 ÷ 1= -7 True False b) -18 ÷ (-9)= True False c) -21 ÷ (-21)= True False d) 30 ÷ (-10)= True False

3. The temperature is -5° F at noon. By sunset, the temperature changes by 5° F. What could the temperature be at sunset? Show all possible answers. 2.

4. Determine if each statement about the distance between numbers on a number line is correct. a) The distance between 21 and -2 on a number line is True False b) The distance between -4 and 13 on a number line is True False c) The distance between -8 and -1 on a number line is True False d) The distance between 18 and -10 on a number line is True False

5. Write the letter for each expression in the box under the category that correctly describes if the solution is positive or negative. -12 * (-4) -6 ÷ 2 15 ÷ (-3) 9 * (-1) -8 * (-8) -24 ÷ 12 Positive Solution Negative Solution

6. Mary’s car insurance decreases by $10 each year for safe driving. Which expressions represent the total change in her payment, in dollars after 8 years? Choose all that apply. 80 8 * (-10) -10 * (-8) -80

7. From Sunday to Wednesday the depth of a snowdrift changed by -6 inches. From Wednesday to Friday it changed by half as much. What is the change in depth of the snowdrift from Wednesday to Friday? Show your work. Answer: ___________ inches

8. 1) = 2) -3 – (-12)= 3) - 7 (-3)= 4) -40 ÷ 4 = 5) 9 – 15 = 6) -7 + (-6) =
