Who’s Your One Ebenezer Baptist Church
2
SIN Repentance=to change your mind that results in change of action.
Repentance from? SIN Renewed Walk Salvation
3
The Realities of Repentance
Realization as a result of the Holy Spirit (Acts 5:31; 11:18; Rom. 2:4) Luke 15:17a Rooted in Godly sorrow which brings regret (II Cor. 7:10) Luke 15:17b
4
Resolution to change your behavior (Matt. 3:7-8) Luke 15:18a
Reveal your sin-confess it (Luke 15:18b, 19, 21) Restitution-when possible (We have nothing do with restitution when it is repentance to salvation. Renewed walk repentance is different)
5
Release-forgive others and yourself (The “prodigal son” had to forgive himself)
6
Receive-the gift of forgiveness (Luke 15:22-23) The Robe-a sign of dignity and honor. The Ring-a sign of authority and sonship. The Shoes-servants didn’t wear shoes. The fatted calf was used for occasions like the Day of Atonement.
7
When Martin Luther nailed his 95 Theses to the door of the church in 1517, he began with this crucial statement: “When our Lord and Master Jesus Christ said, “Repent” (Matthew 4:17), he willed the entire life of believers to be one of repentance.”
