3 Today we’ll focus on this area of the course screen

4 Refresh Schedule or Save
Enter the Begin date or click the calendar button to select a date Enter the number of sessions Establish begin and end times NEW BEHAVIOR Old: Course Time updated real time as you type NEW: Time/Room Use ONLY recalculates when you click Refresh Schedule or Save the Course data Set the days of the week Click Refresh Schedule or Save

5 When the record is Saved, Student Manager goes to work!
Calculates the End date based on the begin date, meeting days, and holidays Checks for Room Conflicts Populates the course time field Creates a Room Use record for each class. You may customize individual sessions When the record is Saved, Student Manager goes to work!

6 Clicking the Room Use button shows each meeting of the course.
These can be edited

7 Need to add another meeting?
Click the plus sign to the left of Room Use This creates a new session which you can edit

8 Remember! When you’ve made Room Use changes, use Ctrl+F4 to save

9 Do not enter a new date that duplicates an existing date
To re-order after editing sessions, close and re-open the Show Room Use button

10 How does Student Manager know about holidays?

11 But, I have a class that HAS to have 500 hours
But, I have a class that HAS to have 500 hours! How do I calculate the # of Sessions?

12 Generate Room Use If all you know is the begin date and clock hours Use the GenRU button

13 Student Manager does the rest!
Follow the wizard through the steps, filling in Begin Date, Number of Sessions, Total Clock Hours, and Hours per Session Student Manager does the rest!

14 Please note . . . Changing a date or time in Room Use does not automatically the Master “Course Time” string on course screen

15 NEW BEHAVIOR: To refresh the course time (and write to the Room Use),
You may either click Refresh schedule, or Save (either via Save or OK/Close) the course. For LARGE databases, this increases performance.

16 Room Conflicts Save the course and SM will identify Room Conflicts. You’ll want to fix these!

17 Room Conflicts can also be identified on the Room Use screen in the Conflict column

18 This will overwrite any customized room use records
Need to reset the Room Use Records? Change any setting (# of Sessions/Time/DOW) and then change it back.. This will overwrite any customized room use records
