1 ½ day this Wednesday. “Day D” May 2, 2016 LUNCH (2nd lunch) English
Science Math Express/Mandarin LUNCH (2nd lunch) Exploratory Social Studies ½ day this Wednesday.

2 Activator: Take out your H.W. Go to pg. 61 in your packet. May 2, 2016
Read the DOT PLOT. Write one conclusion for EACH dot plot on your POST IT note. Write “which DOT PLOT has a bigger variability?” Write how you know. Girl’s Team Boy’s Team

3 H.W. Check Pg. 51 May 2, 2016

4 calculate the mean absolute deviation (MAD) for a given data set.
May 2, 2016 Today I will be able to…. calculate the mean absolute deviation (MAD) for a given data set. interpret the MAD of a data set as the average distance of the data values from the mean. So I can... complete page 61 with least 80% accuracy with a partner or by myself. 6.SP.A.3

5 Let’s Review: What is Variability?
May 2, 2016 Variability is when not all the values in a data set are the same. When the variable in a data set are all very similar, there isn't much variability, but if the values differ a lot, there is more variability. What is Variability?

6 Which city has more variability?
May 2, 2016 The temperatures are more spread out around the mean NYC San Francisco

7 Let’s Review: May 2, 2016 What does a distribution that has no variability look like? All of the data value are the same.

8 Let’s Review: May 2, 2016 What does a distribution that has more variability look like? The data points are spread far a part.

9 May 2, 2016 Go to pg. 56 “City A” has the smallest variability because all the data points are the same. Cities D, E, and F. They appear to have data points that are the most spread out. It would be useful to have a more formal way to measure variability in a data set.

10 May 2, 2016 Go to pg. 55 least variability most variability
Order the seven data sets from least variability to most variability.
