“The House That Built Me” by Miranda Lambert
Miranda Lambert’s song titled, “The House That Built Me” describes a childhood home and how important that home is to a person’s life. The descriptions and the memories described in this song are very similar to my own. She says, “Up those stairs in that little back bedroom, is where I did my homework and I learned to play guitar. I bet you didn’t know under that live oak, my favorite dog is buried in the yard.” In the chorus of the song, she sings, “Out here it’s like I’m someone else; I thought that maybe I could find myself.” The title and the lyrics share my exact feelings and memories from my home while I was growing up. So many things happened in my house that made me the person I am today.
