Erosion of the Point Reyes Peninsula over One Million Years

Simulation Methods The goal was to see how the coastline of the Point Reyes Peninsula looks after one million years by simulating erosion of the landscape Used code from lab that was based on Controls on the spacing of first- order valleys (Perron et al, 2008) The equations from this paper calculate the change in elevation for each grid point at each time step The equations rely on physical parameters, like uplift and the coefficient relating downslope flux to steepness, so I used available information specific to the peninsula to alter these variables I marked the contour of the calculated “beach level” (~35 meters) in black to to show how the coastline changed over time

Data I obtained the elevation data for the Bay Area from USGS
To make the elevation data compatible with the landscape evolution code, there was a decent amount of manipulation that had to be done Errors in the dataset Resolution Resizes Changes to the simulation parameters
