3. Home Learning
Reading (Daily)
Reading books are chosen from a wide selection of reading scheme and/or school library books. Please encourage your child to read every night. Please could you sign reading records and write any comments, in order to share with us your child’s reading, in addition to any celebrations or concerns you may wish to share. Children's books will be changed on a Tuesday and Thursday, it is their responsibility to put it in the correct basket on these days.
KIRFs (Half Termly)
These are given out each half term to support learning in Maths.
Home Learning Menus (Half Termly)
Home learning menus support their curriculum learning in class. It is project-based and designed to further include parents in their child’s learning. At the end of each half term, the children showcase their learning and achieve DOJOs from the tasks completed.
Home Learning Tasks (Weekly)
Home learning tasks are sent home weekly to support your child's learning in class.

5. What is ‘Open Door’?
We operate an ‘Open Door’ system. The doors open from 8:45am so that the children can start to filter into school. We believe in this system in order:
To develop relationships and enable a personal greeting to every child every day.
To reduce congestion in and around school, including reduction in parking congestion .
To promote a calmer start to the day.
To provide additional quiet reading
and other learning opportunities.

6. Key Stage 2 Fruit Tuck Shop
Each playtime, Year 6 run a fruit tuck
shop from the Key Stage 2 playground. Fruits are 20p per item and a range of fruits and snacks are available: apples, pears, bananas, raisins plus seasonal fruits throughout the year.

7. Birthday Celebrations
Each week, we celebrate birthdays in the ‘Good Learning’ Friday assembly by inviting the children to the front where we sing a song and award birthday stickers.
We know that some parents also like to send in a class treat on their child’s birthday. We respectfully ask that you choose a small item that can be shared by all of our children e.g. a class book, pencils or a piece of fruit.

8. Allergy Aware School
As we have a number of children in school with nut allergies, food items that contain nuts cannot be brought into school. The risk of cross-contamination from nuts is too high to allow any of these foods in school. Anaphylaxis is a potentially life-threatening reaction that impairs breathing and can send the body into shock. Given this information, we ask that you carefully check the labels of any food in packed lunches to ensure that they do not contain nuts. Thank you for your co-operation and understanding.

9. Assemblies Each day your child will take part in collective worship: Monday – Golden Jumper Assembly. In this assembly, one child from each class is selected and celebrated for their character. They are given a golden jumper to wear for the week. The jumper is worn to celebrate their success and also promote positive role models within school. In addition, a staff member is chosen and celebrated each week and a ‘hot choc and cookie’ is enjoyed by all winners. In this assembly, we also celebrate attendance winners, UPstanders and lunchtime award winners. Tuesday –Singing Assembly or themed assembly with Mrs Parsons. Wednesday – SMSA/British Values/Themed or Class Assembly (Your child will take part in a class assembly each term) Thursday – Mindset Assembly or Christian Values with Mrs Denney Friday – Good Learning Assembly. In this assembly all parents are invited to enjoy a cup of tea/coffee whilst celebrating great learning across our school. We also celebrate birthdays and home achievements in this assembly.

10. Learning, loving and growing; together as God’s children.
DOJO is used in school to promote positive behaviour.  It allows children to have their own 'Mojo' character who will collect or lose points based on the achievements or challenges they may face throughout the school day.  Children are awarded Dojos for many things, for example: good learning, displaying great attitudes, home learning tasks to name a few. Also, each child will get a ‘Daily Dojo’ for being on time for school and maintaining expected behaviour throughout the day. When your child reaches a certain number of Dojos, they receive an award: 50 head teacher’s award 100 bronze certificate 175 silver certificate 250 gold certificate 350 platinum certificate 500+ MYSTERY When everyone in their class achieves their bronze award, they will have a class treat. On the day your child receives their platinum award, they will have lunch in the hall on a special table with Mrs Parsons or Mrs Denney. At the end of the year, the two children with the highest number of Dojos in each class will be invited to go on a special trip.

11. Enrichment
This half term we are trialling a new KS2 enrichment programme to complement our broad and balanced curriculum. Enrichment will take place every Friday afternoon (2:30-3:15pm) and children will be able to choose from a list of options for example:
Baking
Sports
Sewing
Film club
Commando Joe
Community projects
Forest school
They will complete this enrichment for 6 weeks and then choose a different option the following half term.
We also use class trips, whole school celebration days, after school enrichment, parent partnership opportunities, residential and workshops to further promote curriculum enrichment.
