RECORDING All medicines must be checked and signed in.
They must be in the correct container! Recording sheets must be clearly completed. They are legal documents

HYGIENE Ensure that surface and pots are clean.
Wash hands! Ensure that surface and pots are clean. Dispense medication into pot/syringe. Recommendations. Correct handling.

ROUTES Optical/Aural Nasal/Inhalation Oral/Buccal Topical. Rectal
Subcutaneous/Intramuscular Intravenous

STORAGE Dedicated lockable cupboard.
Individual section for each child. All containers correctly labelled. Cold storage should also be available

DISPENSING/ADMINISTRATION
Check name/dose/expiry date. Dispenser should be the administrator. Shift leader/supervisor/manager holds overall responsibility for medications.
