WHAT IS SUPER8?
Super8 is based on a City v City format. In 2009 the event was piloted in Cardiff, with the host city taking on London North, London South, Birmingham, Manchester, Newcastle, Glasgow and Sheffield.
From the hugely successful pilot, Super8 made a long anticipated return in the city of Glasgow on Wednesday 7 July 2010.
Super8 is a midweek event taking place over two hours incorporating ten events each for both women and men and the exciting medley relays (200m,200m,400m,600m).
Mixed teams with all events being contested for by both men and women.

WHAT IS SUPER8?
All competitors must have a strong connection with the city for which they compete, but cities can also bring in an ‘overseas player’.
Going forward, cities will bid for franchises and will work closely with clubs in their area to produce a sustainable Super8 team.
The Super8 format works at the highest level of the sport as well as at club and school level.

Radical overhaul of existing Event Presentation modules

Use of existing contractors, making Super8 part of the year long deal

One well used practice is to film the athlete, saying hello to the crowd. Time consuming, difficult to pin them down

Any meeting is only as good as the announcers. Pay what you can for professionals.
Experienced sound and vision personnel are vital. Build your team year on year.
Have some eyes and ears on the ground via floor managers and technical officials.
Don’t skimp on comms to the Host Broadcaster as coordination is vital. Stadium audiences now expect a ‘TV show’.
Time for honorary positions has gone – pay professionals (and then you can order them around)

Team managers can nominate 1 athlete across the whole event who will receive additional points based on their finishing position.
Aces cannot be the overseas athlete.
Points gained in the event will be multiplied by 1.5.
Relays are excluded.

Event Grouping
Men’s and Women’s Long Jump / High Jump
Each team will take their longest men’s and women’s distance and add them together for a final total. The team with the greatest combined distance / height will be declared the winner and will claim 25 points.
This method is then repeated for the teams placed 2nd down to 8th.

Any athlete recording a personal best will be awarded 1 additional point.
Can be awarded once only within an event.
