An autocracy is a type of government where ONE person has complete and absolute power. There are different types of autocracies. (Dictatorship, absolute monarchy, etc.)

Oligarchy An oligarchy is a type of government where a country is ruled by a small group of people, usually the wealthy. Oligarchy means “rule by the few”.

Monarchy A monarchy is a type of government where a person is granted power based on their birth into a family (King, Queen, Emperor, etc.), They reign over a kingdom.

Forms of Government Socialism is an economic system where a country has power over many businesses that are produced and provides all for their people. (Canada’s healthcare system) Communism is a form of government where the ruling party owns the means of production and private ownership is restricted (emphasis on the community). Usually a dictator rules in Communist countries (North Korea, China)

Direct Democracy Direct democracy exists when ALL of the voters in a community meet in one place to decide laws and government actions by DIRECTLY voting. (Ancient Athens) Why is this not practical in most places today?
