NCAA Eligibility- Division I Schools
Complete 16 core courses 10 of the 16 courses must be completed before the 7th semester (fall of senior year) 7 of the 10 courses must be in English, math, or science Earn a core-course GPA of 2.3 Earn the ACT/SAT score matching your core-course GPA Graduate high school FULL QUALIFER- May practice, compete and receive athletics scholarships

NCAA Eligibility- Division I Schools
Complete 16 core courses. Earn a core-course GPA of at least Earn the ACT/SAT score matching your core-course GPA Graduate high school ACADEMIC REDSHIRT- May receive athletics scholarships, may practice, but may NOT compete during their first year of enrollment.

What if I do not meet these requirements?
NONQUALIFIER- College-bound student-athletes may not practice, compete or receive athletics scholarships during their first year of enrollment at an NCAA Division I or II school.

Core GPA To determine the quality points earned for each core course, multiply the quality points for the grade by the credits earned. To determine the overall core GPA, take the sum of the quality points and then divide it by the total courses taken. Example: Quality Points Grade CP Honors AP A 4 4.5 5.0 B 3 3.5 4.0 C 2 2.5 3.0 D 1 1.5 2.0 F

Core courses needed for Division I
Complete 16 core courses: 4 credits of English 3 credits of math (Algebra 1 or higher) FSA (.5 credit) + Intermediate Alg. (.5 credit) = 1 credit of Algebra 1 2 credits of science (including one year of lab science) 1 additional credit of English, math or science 2 credits of social science 4 additional credits of English, math, science, social science, foreign language, comparative religion or philosophy

Complete 16 core courses: 3 credits of English 2 credits of math (Algebra 1 or higher) FSA (.5 credit) + Intermediate Alg. (.5 credit) = 1 credit of Algebra 1 2 credits of science (including one year of lab science) 3 additional credits of English, math or science 2 credits of social science 4 additional credits of English, math, science, social science, foreign language, comparative religion or philosophy

Approved NCAA courses Not all core courses are approved by NCAA. When registering for core courses, check with your school counselor first to make sure that it is an approved course. Visit to view all of Ashley Ridge’s approved NCAA courses. CREDIT RECOVERY COURSES ARE NOT APPROVED BY NCAA!!!!!!!!!

Create your NCAA account
Create an account at Certification account- Students need to be certified by the NCAA Eligibility Center to compete at an NCAA Division I or II school. Students also need to be fully registered with a Certification Account before they can make official visits or sign a National Letter of Intent in Division I or II. $80; Fee waivers available if student receives free/reduced lunch Profile page- If students plan to compete at a Division III school or are not sure in which division they want to compete. Notify your counselor to submit your transcript Submit your ACT/SAT test scores

Things to remember In addition to meeting graduation requirements and college prerequisites, be sure to take and successfully pass core courses for your core GPA. During IGPs make sure that your counselor knows that you plan to play a sport in college. Do well in ALL of your courses! Know your NCAA requirements (Division I, II, or III/core GPA/test scores) You must still meet the college’s admission requirements

Take the right courses 10th Grade: Register for your NCAA account Continue to do well in your classes 11th Grade: Make sure that you are on track Take the ACT/SAT Have your transcript submitted to NCAA 12th Grade: Retake the ACT/SAT, if needed Request your amateurism certification after April 1st Have your final transcript submitted after graduation
