Simulation report card for patient safety.
Simulation report card for patient safety. Through the process of expert consensus and literature review, a ‘traffic light system’ was employed to define the potential of simulation-based medical education to train each of the seven desired competencies within the CanMEDs framework. The traffic lights were defined as follows: red, simulation has no use in this role; orange, simulation has potential to be used in this area, but is either underused or its evidence base remains weak; green, simulation is shown to work in this area, although evidence for its use in patient safety might still be under-researched.
