“The Stupid Springy Thingy”
Alex Lipe Morgan Helton Chris Cruze Matt Patterson at this point in the game, whomever is speaking will introduce each team member by like pointing at them or something
2
Our device uses springs attached to a copper pipe to lift the weight the required distance.
with this slide, the speaker will explain and point out the various parts of the device and how they work like: Ball goes down ramp Ball falls into cup Force on cup makes scissors cut Scissors cut string, releases spring Spring returns to neutral violently, moving the pipe and causing the weight to fall, adding extra force to the spring’s return Weight is lifted by spring’s return and weight’s fall
3
Potential gravitational to kinetic energy
Energy Conversions Potential gravitational to kinetic energy Potential elastic to kinetic energy Conservation of momentum (inelastic) with this, I’m not sure if we’ll need actual calculations, or just to illustrate by pointing at the specific aspects of our device that provide energy conversion for reference, they are: ball rolls down track, PEg to KE ball collides with cup inelastically, COM spring returns to neutral position, PEe to KE actually, also we should include the weight tied to the end of the pole, PEg to KE and the scissors?

Converting ideas into tangible devices
Development Issues: Ineffective designs Converting ideas into tangible devices Scheduling conflicts now, we’ll talk a little about our two first designs and what went wrong with them, the problems with one team member conveying his idea to the others for construction (yeah, so, I’m probably talking about myself), as well as our differing schedules with jobs and other classes conflicting and our difficulty in finding a common meeting time
5
Conclusions We ended up needing to allocate much more time for design than construction, due to the difficulty in finding a successful configuration. Our choice of materials proved an interesting challenge in our design process. Overall, our team was able to construct this device while still having fun. at this point, we can refer back to our flawed designs, point out something about our build materials, but conclude that ultimately this was an enjoyable experience. probably insert a funny quip somewhere in here.
