Canned Lesson Narrative Writing

Step 1: Read the prompt carefully before you begin.
Writing Situation: There are many stories that talk about people getting three wishes that come true. Think about this for a moment! What if you had three wishes? The catch is, your entire family knows that you have three wishes and everyone wants "their fair share!" The other problem is, as in all good fairy tales, you can't wish for more wishes. Directions for Writing: Write a story about how you received three wishes and what you wished for. Remember to use exciting details, and colorful adjectives to make your story interesting.

Step 2: Think about it. Think about the three wishes you would make and why.

Step 3: Prepare the graphic organizer.
Now fold your paper into 4 squares.

Step 4: Complete the graphic organizer.
Unfold the paper and draw a box in the center. In the center box write a sentence to begin your story. Be sure to include who, what, when, where, or why. One day when I was walking to school, I met a talking frog who said he would grant me 3 wishes.

Write a sentence to tell about one of your wishes. Example: I wished that my grandmother was well. Write a sentence to tell about one of your wishes. Example: I wished for a new car for my family. Write a sentence to tell how you feel about getting 3 wishes. I was so happy to get the three wishes. Write another reason you think this is unfair.
