1 A Nurturing People Deuteronomy 6 v.1-9; 2 Timothy 1 v. 3-14
Our Covenant A Nurturing People Deuteronomy 6 v.1-9; 2 Timothy 1 v. 3-14

2 We will endeavour to bring up such as may at any time be under our care, in the nurture and admonition of the Lord, and by a pure and loving example to seek the salvation of our family and friends.

3 Nurture defined To care for and protect (someone or something) while they are growing.

4 Nurture in the Home The Message: “Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one. Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.” The Means: Tell, tie, write – ‘Make it audible, make it visible Note – These commandments are to be upon your hearts

5 Nurture in the Home Everyone has a part “I have been reminded of your sincere faith, which first lived in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice and, I am persuaded, now lives in you also.” (2 Timothy 1 v. 5) “You know those from whom you learned it, from infancy” (3 v. 14,15)

6 Nurture in the Home Not forgetting grace! In the future, when your son asks you, “What is the meaning of the stipulations, decrees and laws the LORD our God has commanded you?” 21 tell him: “We were slaves of Pharaoh in Egypt, but the LORD brought us out of Egypt with a mighty hand…… 23 But he brought us out from there to bring us in and give us the land that he promised on oath to our forefathers. (Deut 6:20–23).

7 Nurture in the Church A Range of Children’s Ministries
But Adults need to keep on growing too!. See Titus 2 v. 1-8 Older Men Older Women Younger Women Younger Men

8 …..and build each other up.
Encourage one another.. …..and build each other up. We will rejoice at each others’ happiness and endeavour with tenderness and sympathy to bear each other’s burdens and sorrows.

9 Nurture in the Church But since we belong to the day, let us be self- controlled, putting on faith and love as a breastplate, and the hope of salvation as a helmet. 9 For God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ. 10 He died for us so that, whether we are awake or asleep, we may live together with him. 11 Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing. (1 Th 5:8–11)

10 In Conclusion….. 12 Now we ask you, brothers, to respect those who work hard among you, who are over you in the Lord and who admonish you. 13 Hold them in the highest regard in love because of their work. Live in peace with each other. 14 And we urge you, brothers, warn those who are idle, encourage the timid, help the weak, be patient with everyone. 15 Make sure that nobody pays back wrong for wrong, but always try to be kind to each other and to everyone else. 16 Be joyful always; 17 pray continually; 18 give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. (1 Th 5:12–18)
