Mantle Solid (mostly); similar to stony meteorites
Thickness: ~ 2,900 km

Core Outer is liquid; inner is solid; composition similar to iron meteorites Thickness: Outer ~2,300km Inner ~1,200km

Definitions (add to the left side of your notebook)
Crust – Earth’s outermost layer, made of solid rock. Mantle – The layer below the crust and above the core. It is made of solid rock that is somewhat different in composition than the crust. Core – Earth’s innermost division, made of mostly metals, especially iron and nickel.
