2 Methods of Learning Children learn from their own everyday situations including play Researchers have classified the learning methods into groups: Incidental , trial-and-error , Imitation and Directed learning Directed learning begins in early years and continues throughout life

3 Concept Development A child’s concepts become more refined as the child matures . The child knows the difference between “before” and “after” , but “today” “tomorrow” and “yesterday” are not yet grasped completely. Concepts of time improve slowly during the second and third year.

4 Readiness for Learning
Children learn new skills only when they are physically and intellectually ready. A child’s sense of failure can often cause the child to learn slowly than more rapidly. It is important to not push a child into learning when they are not ready it is also important not to delay certain tasks that they should already be doing.

5 Guiding Learning Give your time and attention to the child they learn best when encouraged by a loved one Allow time for thinking when it come to choices and decision making Give only as much help as the child needs to succeed Encourage children to draw their own conclusions Show how to solve problems Maintain a positive attitude Keep explaining simple and on the child’s level Allow children to explore and discover

6 Play activities and toys
Toys allow the child to experience imaginary situations and act out different roles. They encourage the development of both large and small motor skills Colorful toys are important , younger children respond more readily to colorful objects and later will help them learn the name of the color .

7 Speech Development The ability to speak depends on all the areas of development : physical, intellectual , social and emotional Children from age 1-3 can learn language when the parents simply talking to them, clearly and efficiently Some children have speech difficulties and will need a physical examination Some physical problem can cause a delay in speech such as : poor hearing , mental disabilities, learning disabilities, and emotional problems .
