Recent Earthquake News
Recent Earthquake news was in Katmandu , Nepal. It had 7.8 Richter scale .It struck on 25 April people died .Many Property damages has occurred.
5
What is Earthquake ? A series of vibrations induced in the earth's crust by the abrupt rupture and rebound of rocks in which elastic strain has been slowly accumulating. Shaking or trembling on Earth . It occurs in specific area at specific time.
6
How is Earthquake Caused ?
Earthquakes are usually caused when rock underground suddenly breaks along a fault. This sudden release of energy causes the seismic waves that make the ground shake. When two blocks of rock or two plates are rubbing against each other, they stick a little. When the rocks break, the earthquake occurs.
7
What are Effects of Earthquake ?
Effects of Earthquake are very bad. It causes many injuries and life of people gets damaged. Many properties get damaged because of earthquake. Industries get damaged. Its also a great economic loss because reconstructing a damaged place will cause lot of money. The falling of buildings created noise pollution and created a lot of dust thus leading to ear problems and lung problems respectively.
8
Way of Measuring Earthquake Intensity and What Earthquake Intensity is ?
Intensity is measures the strength produced by the earthquake at certain location. Richter scale is used for measuring intensity of earthquake. Highest magnitude of earthquake was 9.5 Richter scale in Chile at For each step up in magnitude an earthquake releases 30 times more energy.
9
Can Earthquake be Prevented ?
We cannot prevent Earthquake and Predicting earthquake is not possible till now If predicting earthquake is possible then we can mitigate the damages.
10
How Often Earthquake Occurs ?
Earth is an active place and earthquakes are always happening somewhere. In fact, the National Earthquake Information Center locates about 12,000-14,000 earthquakes each year! This fact sheet illustrates information on the frequency of earthquakes of various magnitudes, along with details on the effects of earthquakes and the equivalent energy release On average, Magnitude 2 and smaller earthquakes occur several hundred times a day world wide. Major earthquakes, greater than magnitude 7, happen more than once per month. "Great earthquakes", magnitude 8 and higher, occur about once a year.
11
What Measures to be taken if Earthquake Occurs ?
Stop Driving Protect your head so that nothing falls on it Don’t stay near the Shore Stay away from Building and Furniture so that it does not topple over us. Don’t panic
