1965 Malcom X was assassinated on February 21 for breaking with Elijah Muhammad about the way to address inequality for Black Americans. Selma March for Voting Rights was organized to address the fact that many Black Americans still did not vote in Alabama. It began in March and was three separate marches, going from Selma to Montgomery. Voting Rights Act of 1965 in response to the overwhelming evidence that voting rights were not available to Black Americans. Executive Order “Affirmative Action” for the first time in US history.
