Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA)
In January, 2018 Beacon Health System began the CHNA process for identifying its health priorities during the next cycle of programming In August we received the data from enFocus, using information from the same three sources: secondary data, key informants, and the community-at-large. They provided their final recommendations in August. Based on their report, BHS identified 4 priorities to address for the next three years. 4 Priority Areas: Healthy Body Healthy Mind Healthy Spirit Healthy Family Primary Strategies to achieve impact in these priority areas: Scale Up Programs to increase participation (replicate services at additional locations/collaborate) Provide more program equity, regional alignment, integration of clinical community services (seek grant opportunities) Ensure strengthening of programs (Priority Project Specialist who will support program providers with mentoring and technical assistance to achieve increased coordination of service efforts within priority areas) Continue making progress toward achieving collective impact (Training, create metrics to effectively document outcomes)

Trained and distributed over 15,000 Naloxone kits to first responders and the public across 70+ Indiana counties Only youth awareness prevention program to address the dangers of opioids

This is NOT About Drugs This is (Not) About Drugs is an educational program created by Overdose Lifeline, Inc. to raise awareness of the risks of misusing prescription opioids and the connection between misuse and addiction, heroin use, and overdose. The lesson encourages students to make good choices and provides the student with skills to combat peer pressure, gain support, and resources for making decisions about their own body and health. Total number of students: 584 high school Total number of classes (sessions): 22 Location: St. Joseph County, South Bend Community Goals: Increase knowledge on misuse of opioids Increase knowledge on risk behaviors for drug addiction Increase intention to talk to someone when concerned about self or someone else

Of the 584 students, 66 said they knew someone misusing prescription pain medicine 62% of the students said they are less likely now to abuse prescription pain medicine or do heroin Students have shown improvement in knowledge on misuse of opioids and risk behaviors from drug addiction; pre test mean score of 50% and post 70% This is NOT About Drugs
