The system is developed around a wireless network. We have also experimented with new human-machine interface techniques and have developed a mobile hand gesture interface using body-mounted sensors. 5 Mobile AR and Situational Awareness
Multiple “equipped” users out in the field Each user has GPS, INS, cameras and other sensors. Each user has a copy of 3D database of the environment they are in, with mobile visualization tools. Users can “register” their current location with the database using sensors: Can “discover” things about their environments using the database. Can update the centralized 3D database with “new” potentially time varying information Can track moving objects among different users in a de-centralized fashion Centralized servers can: Update the 3D database based on info from distributed users Relay the update to distributed users Coordinate tracking of objects among multiple users Visualize the location of all users, or moving objects taking uncertainty into consideration Make sense and make decisions based on uncertain data, processing algorithm.
