5. Application Information for Summer CNECM Admission
Application period is February 1st – March 15 Directions & link to online application will be posted on the Nursing Homepage Start in 1st Summer after year one of your ADN program Finish in one year after ADN graduation with your BSN

6. What is the Collaborative Nursing Education Continuum Model (CNECM)?
SSU’s ADN to BSN program is called the POST-LICENSURE BSN PROGRAM.
The CNECM is a track in the Post-Licensure Program
The CNECM is an “early start” to Upper Division Nursing coursework toward the BSN.  
Current first semester-first year ADN students enrolled at CNECM partners apply while in ADN programs

7. Who is eligible for admission to the CNECM Program?
Current first semester-first year ADN students enrolled at CNECM partners may apply while in ADN programs with a May graduation date
CNECM partners are ADN programs in Santa Rosa Junior College, College of Marin, Napa Valley College, Solano Community College, and Mendocino College. 
Applicants must be currently in good standing in their respective ADN programs
Students enrolled in the second, third or fourth semester of their ADN program in fall are not eligible for the CNECM program.

8. CNECM Curriculum Overview
CNECM Full Time Enrollment (One year for completion)
Enrollment in all nursing courses in the CNECM Academic Program Plan is required.
6 units of Upper Division General Education (UDGE) is individually determined based on student’s remaining degree requirements and according to UDGE requirements (see the ADN-BSN ROADMAP for your college)

11. CNECM Program Timeline
1st Summer units

12. Admission is considered for current SERIVE AREA ADN students who:
Plan to complete all SSU GE transfer requirements listed on your college’s ADN-BSN roadmap
In second semester of ADN with a spring graduation
Upon matriculation have only 24 units of Upper Division Nursing and 6 units of Upper Division GE remaining to complete for the BSN degree
Are in good standing in their ADN program (Sonoma, Napa, Solano, Marin, or Mendocino).

16. University (SSU) Transfer Admission Criteria specific to BSN
Refer to your college SSU ADN-BSN RoadMap for both the BSN and SSU GE Requirements
Minimum of 60 semester units of college-transferable credit and a maximum of 70 units of approved transfer credit from community college level coursework is allowed to count toward baccalaureate degree.
30 units should meet Sonoma State University General Education (GE) requirements for transfer including the following also required as CSU System Wide Nursing Program Admission Prerequisites 
ALL of GE Area A Completed (Speech/Oral Communication, English Composition/Written Communication, & Critical Thinking)
ALL of Lower division GE Area B Completed (Physical Science, Biological Science, & Quantitative Reasoning/Math)     
30 units must be credit for lower-division nursing course work (nursing coursework at California community college programs meets and exceeds this requirement).
Second baccalaureate applicants must meet the CSU System Wide Nursing Program Admission Prerequisites listed above, however, may have one course in Area A (such as Critical Thinking) met with the existing baccalaureate degree.

17. Nursing Department CNECM Admission Criteria
Must be in first semester of ADN programs in Santa Rosa Junior College, College of Marin, Napa Valley College, Solano Community College or Mendocino College
Refer to your college SSU ADN-BSN RoadMap which outlines both the BSN and SSU GE Requirements
Anticipated graduation from a CNECM partner ADN program in Spring semester with RN licensure by August 15
Minimum of 3 semester units of college-transferable credit in chemistry with a grade B or better (any chemistry taken as prerequisite to the ADN program is acceptable for the BSN, however, if not taken at college level, it would not meet the SSU GE Area B1 Physical Science requirement and the student would need to complete a B1 qualified chemistry course prior to admission).
Preference for admission will be given to applicants with the fewest number of lower division SSU GE requirements outstanding.  CSU GE Certification is desirable (Community College Education Counselors are authorized to assist you with these certifications).

18. Are the classes online?
All courses (except the clinical portion of N412P) are online with the possibility of scheduled mandatory on campus sessions once or twice during each semester
The N412 clinical is one day a week for the semester. Students are in clinical 8-5pm on either a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday or Friday
Clinical sites are within the University’s service area of Sonoma, Napa, Solano, Marin, Lake, or Mendocino counties.

19. What is the cost of tuition?
The costs listed here are estimates, fee’s are subject to change First Summer 4 units $1700 Second Summer 4 units $1700 Fall Full time 8-12 units $3940 Spring Full time 8-12 units $3940 Total $11,280 *UDGE enrollment in winter intersession and summer terms can alter the costs. Second baccalaureate BSN students pay a higher fee ($4657) per semester after the Summer Nurs 313 course and do not need to take upper division GE courses. Enrollment Fees Disclaimer: Fees shown are estimated based on projected amounts (as of 8/27/19), however, are subject to change per university policy. The enrollment fees are included here for reference only. Additional costs not included above are: application fees, Certified Background, text books, computer with current software, internet access and travel to and from university and clinical site.

21. Is there a part time CNECM option?
No. Students must enroll in all the nursing courses listed in the CNECM Academic Program Plan
The first two summer courses are 4 units
Fall and spring of the second year are 11 units eachand part time is not an option.
If a student withdraws from any required nursing course, they are discontinued from the CNECM program and must reapply in the next admission cycle.

22. CNECM Meeting Dates
Summer 2020 CNECM Orientation Friday April 26th 4-6pm
First course: N312 Starts mid June through end of July  - mandatory on campus session in mid June

23. Can I work while in the CNECM program?
Working during summer terms when you are taking a 4 unit course is possible. A 4 unit course over 7 weeks requires 18 hours per week minimum study time The 11 unit course load during fall and spring is equivalent to a full time job. Most students find working part time manageable. Successful graduates are highly motivated, self-directed and are able to balance their work-life-school responsibilities. Having support from family, friends and employers is very helpful

27. Admission to the CNECM
Students who are accepted will receive their Admission notification in March
Some students will receive an “alternate” admission letter, receive a number and be notified if a space becomes available
CNECM  students will register in late May for the Summer term
Attend April on campus program orientation
Attend Nursing 312 on campus orientation in the summer. The remainder of the course is online

28. What can I do to improve my chances of admission?
Start your NursingCAS application early! Send all transcripts 8 weeks before deadline
Work with your community college advisor to plan to complete all SSU GE transfer requirements
By Fall 2021 have only 24 units Upper Division Nursing & 6 units Upper Division GE remaining for the BSN degree
Are in good standing in your ADN program
Meet both Sonoma State University and Nursing Department Admission Criteria
