Intent to Raise Questions
Responses from December 6, 2016 questions
2
Question from: Sean Kelly
How many of the 22 CSU campuses DO NOT have vans? Why does CI not have vans? If we are the only one, why? When is the last time this policy was revisited? Who was involved in that review? Have we considered the possibility of entering into a lease agreement for vans or having the vans owned and operated by a campus auxiliary?

Response from John Reid
We do not know how many of the 23 CSU campuses don’t have vans. CI does not have intra-campus van service available for transportation purposes because there is not an identified need and/or revenue source(s). CI does not have inter-city vans available for mass transportation purposes because it is a partner for that same type of service with the Ventura County Transportation Commission and its VISTA bus program. All alternative transportation and parking services, policies, and practices – with an eye on identifying both short and long term needs – are under consideration as part of a comprehensive study currently being conducted by a professional consulting firm in partnership with the Facilities Services and Transportation & Parking work groups. A presentation on this effort has already been provided to Faculty Senate. The study’s findings are due for release in Spring 2017.

Question from: Sean Anderson
Can we use funds (either General Funds, IRA, etc.) to purchase carbon offsets for individual trips (e.g. for an IRA-funded class trip)?
5
Response from Missy Jarnagin
We’re currently locating documentation that will be useful to fully address this question; please stay tuned for further correspondence that will be communicated to Senate.
