After watching the video, write down your thesis statement and three topic sentences. If you’ve already written a thesis on your outline, revisit it to ensure that it is a strong, meaningful thesis. Then, write your topic sentences.

Before we get started on outlining…
You MUST use citations in your outline. These are called in-text citations, and they are different than the citations that you put in your research pages (but they are easier too!) Let’s look at some examples.
4
Picking what quotes to use
Make sure you pick only the MOST EFFECTIVE quotes possible to include in your speech. Make sure you set them up correctly – don’t just interject random thoughts in the middle of your statements Ex: F. Scott Fitzgerald was a brilliant writer and author who had a wonderful childhood that helped to structure his adult life but, “Eventually, in 1937, Scott went west, hoping to write for the movies. Zelda drifted in and out of Highland Hospital for 12 years” ("For F. Scott And Zelda Fitzgerald, A Dark Chapter In Asheville, North Carolina”). While this quote and citation are good, they do not fit into this portion of the speech.
