1 Partnering for Mission To contact TCC:
FAQs (Frequently asked questions) Will this cost money? Free resources are available for members including access to the website for funding advice, tools for mission, training and other useful resources. A Window For Every Church – your own church ‘portal’ is currently freely available (subscriptions are charged for greater access). Free initial consultancy offered from our Senior Development Manager – John Wareham. Ongoing support may be chargeable – based on the level of support required. Payroll & HR services available – these are chargeable but at reduced rates. Why contact TCC? TCC are experts in the voluntary sector on matters of project management, governance, funding, strategic partnerships and employment. They are also well connected with other experts to draw in for churches when required. Churches today are required to have a level of ‘professionalism’ when engaging in work with communities. TCC helps churches meet the requirements to set up and run projects effectively at a local level. TCC do not come in and take over – they come to support, enable and up-skill local teams to run their own projects. TCC can manage entire projects for churches if required – but TCC would only do this if requested by the management team of that church. Partnering for Mission To contact TCC: Website: Tel:

2 Introduction Welcome to this short booklet sharing some stories from TCC’s continued work and support offered to churches around the North West. TCC is a key missional partner for our churches and they provide their expertise and access to resources, enabling us to continue our social action developments at a local level. Connexional support was provided in 2009 for a project to expand services which now include both online and consultative provision. These services are available to all our churches in the region and I would encourage us all to share the stories in this booklet with local church teams. I hope you find it useful as a guide to see how TCC may assist your local church mission as part of our continued calling to be a missional church. Keith Davies, Chair of Manchester & Stockport District Working In the Peak: Buxton Circuit Project Title: The Hub Overview: A new and exciting community project in a converted shop based in a challenged area of Buxton. The ‘Hub’ is being designed to meet the needs of the local community, supported by the Circuit and ecumenical partners in the local area. TCC’s involvement: TCC supports the Deacon and Project Manager leading the project by providing information, advice and guidance on facilitating community consultations, developing suitable robust governance, business planning and funding opportunities. “TCC have helped us to make this happen and knowing that they are there with their expertise, as we move forward, gives us great encouragement and confidence that together we can do things well. An invaluable resource!” Deacon Janet Heys, Buxton Working in the Wirral: Trinity Ellesmere Port Project Title: Footsteps Overview: The church has undertaken an ambitious project to completely refurbish the building. This includes; a community cafe, industrial standard training kitchen, innovative worship space and lots more... TCC’s involvement: Working closely with the Minister, Church Council and Circuit, TCC is engaged as the managing agent for the church. TCC manage staff and volunteers and are setting up all the policies, procedures and practical activities (such as room bookings) to ensure legal and operational compliance. The church will be ‘Visible’ compliant (national quality standard) “TCC can spot the potential pit falls and ask the difficult questions, when churches often can't 'see the wood for the trees’” Rev. Christine Jones, Ellesmere Port Working in Trafford: The Avenue Methodist Church Project Title: VISIBLE Overview: a church review based on the four areas of our calling and the underpinning governance needed to support these areas. TCC’s involvement: In partnership, with the church and DDE, we investigated the current and future priorities and needs for the church through a facilitated process over three days. From this initial engagement, TCC has continued to support the church in reviewing and adopting policies and procedures to support their on-going operations, based on 3rd sector governance process ‘Visible’ (accredited standard). “Governance issues are extensive and often complex and the support given by TCC has been invaluable” Barry Myers, The Avenue, Sale
