2. The LOST need the Message – which will come from us
Review:
Our look at John 17 establishes that Jesus is extremely concerned about us & our unity with the Trinity and with each other
Our example of how we live has an impact on the Message of salvation to the lost
Without the Message – the lost ARE LOST to Hell
The LOST need the Message – which will come from us

3. 2 Cor 5:20, 21 (paraphrased)
Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were making an appeal through us; therefor be reconciled to God So that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.
Role of an ambassador – go to a foreign country and represent the mother country’s interests / concerns

4. John 17:1-4 (all passages from NASB) Jesus spoke these things: Father, the hour has come; glorify Your Son, that the Son may glorify You, This is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent. I glorified You on the earth, having accomplished the work which You have given Me to do.
Jesus – the ultimate ambassador!!! (left heaven –came to earth to bring eternal life to us = knowledge of Father/Son)

5. I Cor 11:1 Be imitators of me (ambassador), just as I also am of Christ (ultimate ambassador)
I Peter 2: Keep you behavior excellent so that your good deeds, as they observe them, glorify God in the day of visitation
II Cor 2:15 For we are a fragrance of Christ to God among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing

6. Mtt 5:  “You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt has become tasteless, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled under foot by men  “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden; nor does anyone light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house.

7. I Jhn 3:18 Little children, let us not love with word or with tongue, but in deed and truth.
(actions speak louder than words)
Jas 2:15,16 15 If a brother or sister is without clothing and in need of daily food, 16 and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and be filled,” and yet you do not give them what is necessary for their body, what use is that?

Sheep vs. Goats – giving or NOT giving to the Lord (to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers or mine – you did it to Me.)

10. Jhn 17:21, 23 That they may all be one; even as You, Father, are in Me and I in You, that they also may be in Us, so that the world may believe that you sent Me. . I in them and You in Me, that they may be perfected in unity, so that the world may know that You sent Me, and loved them, even as You have loved Me. We are the messengers (ambassadors) of love, salvation, and eternal life
