A crime has been committed!! Will you help us to solve this crime?
We are thinking that it is a copy cat crime. One of the detectives noticed that the nature of the crime was very similar to a film that he watched last weekend. Often criminals get ideas from others, as to how to carry out their crime. Will you help us to solve this crime?

It’ s really important that we train you to make good observations
It’ s really important that we train you to make good observations. Have a go at guessing what these substances are by using your senses of touch, smell, sound and taste. We call the process of your experiment a method! It is also important that you know how to record observations Systematically and in detail. We call the writing of what you found the results.
7
Your results: To record observations systematically we tend to use a table. In the first column of the table we put the thing that we are testing and in the second column we write our results. Add headings to the outline of the table.
8
You could divide this column up to give several columns to indicate several attempts. Results are always more reliable if you repeat Senses being tested Right or wrong Taste object 1 Object 2 Object 3 Smell Object 1 Sound Object 1 Touch- object 1 You may also want to divide up to gather results both for you and your results.
9
Your conclusion How many did you get right and wrong?
Is one sense stronger than another? Were your results the same as your friends? Why do you think its important for a detective to have good observation skills?
10
