2 Project Overview Stadium built in 1967
Home for Padres, Chargers, Aztecs, Holiday Bowl, & 3 Super Bowls About 70,000 seats Qualcomm has name rights till 2017

3 Project Analysis Out with the old and in with the new.
Sport specific stadiums. Project objective: implement wireless network that can be accessed through a PDA.

4 Project Scope Easily obtain operational, technical, & economical criteria Product Characteristics & Requirements: wireless service must allow patrons to IM other patrons, online voting, order food, get other game stats, & view instant replays.

5 Cost/Benefit Analysis
Cost Assumptions: 5 people working on the project $50 per hour wage Benefit Assumptions: 100 games at stadium (82 Padre, 9 Charger, 8 Aztec, 1 Holiday Bowl) 10% increase in attendance 15% increase in food orders

6 Cost/Benefit Analysis
Total Costs: $153,000 (cheaper than if installed hard-wire consoles at each seat) Total Benefit: $11,500,00 Average ticket price of $25 for 40,000 people, 10% increase of 4,000 over 100 games-$10 million Average food order $10 for 10,000 orders, 15% increase of 1,500 over 100 games-$1.5 million

7 Measures of Success Low cost makes it hard not to be a success.
If only 5% increase in attendance, still profitable. If only 5% increase in food orders, still profitable. If only 5% of the patrons use it, still profitable.

8 Project Design 802.11b wireless LAN (local access network)
About 10 access points around stadium Monitors at concession stands to receive orders Web based software development Three month time frame(Jan 03-March03) in between seasons

9 Risk Management Risks: Padres will leave for new stadium
Chargers will leave San Diego Aztecs build their own stadium Project does not work Nobody uses it Software will not work with PDA Takes longer than anticipated
