5 Important Facts Latinos make up13.4% of the U.S. population, making Latinos the nation’s largest minority This presents an increasing urgency for culturally sensitive mental health and rehabilitation services for the Latino population Shortage of Latino providers to deliver such services On average, 29 Latino mental health professionals for every 100,000 Information Courtesy of Boston University 11/3/2019

6 Project Goals To develop a culturally competent recovery and rehabilitation training program for Latino consumer providers. To address Latino representation in the Mental Health system. To gain an understanding of the importance of peer support in regards to the Latino community 11/3/2019

Training program will focus on an integration of the following three materials, revised specifically to meet the needs of Latino consumers: BestNow CONTAC Leadership Academy Boston University Recovery and Psychiatric Rehabilitation 11/3/2019

8 BestNOW! Building Employment Strategies Through Networking On Wellness
Nine-month training program Five month in class training Four months paid community internship Skills based knowledge of supportive services in mental health system Enhance self-awareness, self advocacy, and empowerment Peer support 11/3/2019

9 CONTAC Leadership Academy
Training program involving citizenship, advocacy, leadership, and organizational skills for consumers. CONTAC completed a Spanish translation of the program, parts of which they will pilot in this project. 11/3/2019

10 Boston University Recovery and Psychiatric Rehabilitation
