8 4 “Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one!
Deuteronomy 6(NKJV) 4 “Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one!  5 You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.

9 6 “And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart.
7 You shall teach them diligently to your children…

10 …and shall talk of them when you sit
in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up.

11 “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized
Acts 2 (NKJV) 38 Then Peter said to them,  “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

12 39 For the promise is to you and to your children,
and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call.”

13 and exhorted them, saying, “Be saved from this perverse generation.”
.” 40 And with many other words he testified and exhorted them, saying, “Be saved from this perverse generation.”

14 41 Then those who gladly received his word were baptized; and that day about three thousand souls were added to them.

15 42 And they continued steadfastly
in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers.

16 was written between the years 65 and 80
The “Didache” considered to be the oldest Christian catechism [curriculum] in history was written between the years 65 and 80

17 The Didache was divided into four
distinct parts: 1. Moral teachings 2. Ordinance instruction 3. Relational instruction 4. The return of the Saviour

18 From a Current Catechism How and why did God create us?
God created us male and female in His own image to know Him, love Him, live with Him, and glorify Him.

19 From a Current Catechism
How and why did God create us? And it is right that we who were created by God should live to His glory.

22 A cloud of gas and dust in outer space, visible in the night sky
NEBULA A cloud of gas and dust in outer space, visible in the night sky either as an indistinct bright patch or as a dark silhouette against other luminous matter.

23 The heavens declare the glory of God;
Psalm 19 (NKJV) The heavens declare the glory of God; And the firmament shows His handiwork. 2 Day unto day utters speech, And night unto night reveals knowledge.

24 to magnify and honour in worship;
Glorify (Webster Dictionary) To praise; to magnify and honour in worship; to ascribe honour to, in thought or words.

25 we do not give Him anything that He needs
When we give God glory, we do not give Him anything that He needs or doesn’t already have immeasureably. So “giving God glory” is for our benefit. It establishes and reminds us of what our posture should be before Him.

26 8 Among the gods there is none like You, O Lord;
Psalm 86 (NKJV) 8 Among the gods there is none like You, O Lord; Nor are there any works like Your works.

27 9 All nations whom You have made
Shall come and worship before You, O Lord, And shall glorify Your name.

28 and do wondrous things;
10 For You are great, and do wondrous things; You alone are God.

29 5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
Proverbs 3 (NKJV) 5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.

30 16 Let your light so shine before men,
Matthew 5(NKJV) 16 Let your light so shine before men,  that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.

32 26 for “the earth is the Lord’s,
1 Corinthians 10 (NKJV) 25 Eat whatever is sold in the meat market, asking no questions for conscience’ sake;  26 for “the earth is the Lord’s, and all its fullness.”

33 whether you eat or drink, do all to the glory of God.
31 Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.

34 9…you have put off the old man 10 and have put on the new man
Colossians 3 (NKJV) 9…you have put off the old man with his deeds,  10 and have put on the new man  who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him,

35 17 And whatever you do in word or deed,
do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.

36 Glory to His Name The “chief end of man” How do we glorify God?
The name of God

37 of the God of Jacob defend you;
Psalm 20 (NKJV) May the Lord answer you in the day of trouble; May the name of the God of Jacob defend you;

38 The Name An Entirely Holy Name “I AM”
“The name…” points to the fullness of the revealed character of YWHW throughout Scripture (Various commentators)

39 The Name He CHOOSES to reveal His name and character to His people

40 The glorious power of God
The Name In that name: The glorious power of God defended and preserved the Lord Jesus through the battle of his life and death, and exalted him above all his enemies. C.H. Spurgeon

41 5 We will rejoice in your salvation,
And in the name of our God we will set up our banners!

42 it's bringing to our nation When men profane His holy name each day
His name is voiced in every conversation He's now become a superstar they say But oh, the curse it's bringing to our nation When men profane His holy name each day

43 how those around us Are plunging to a lost eternity And all the while
It's hard to understand how those around us Are plunging to a lost eternity And all the while they say the name of Jesus But curse the only name that sets them free

44 He's more than just a swear word More than just an I don't care word How can we use His name so recklessly

45 Our only hope is in this one word “Whosoever will may come” word He's more than just a swear word He's the precious Son of God

46 What Next?

47 whether you eat or drink, do all to the glory of God.
What Next? 31 Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.

48 What Next? 17 And whatever you do in word or deed,
do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.
