5 Climate The climate of a swamp is usually damp and muggy. The temperatures range from 55 degrees Celsius to 85 degrees Celsius. A swamps water has a pH of approximately 7.2.

6 Human Devastation Humans harvest valuable lumber from swamps.
Nutrient-rich soils present in swamps cause then to be drained and cleared for agriculture and other development. Over 70% of the nations floodplain forest swamps have been lost.
