1 Parents with Disabilities Pilot Program Update Community Advisory Committee Tuesday, September 10, 2019

2 Program Overview To provide transportation for Access riders who need to engage in childcare related activities such as school, recreation, healthcare and socialization activities. The proposed project will be a premium service designed to address a need that exists among Access certified parents with school-aged children.

3 Milestone Dates First PWD Trip provided December 18, 2013
New Freedom Grant: 50% of Operating costs Grant Funding provided funding through January 2018 (over 4 years) Access Board authorized extending program to end of school year (June 30, 2018) – Local Funds authorized Access Board authorized one-year extension (July 1, 2018 to June 30, 2019) Board sought Access staff to develop PWD program expansion option Access Board authorized extension for PWD Pilot to operate until start of County-wide extension (July 1, 2019 to June 30, 2020 [or until Brokerage Model start])

(Trips by Year) FY 2014: 793 FY 2015: 5,045 FY 2016: 7,438 FY 2017: 5,851 FY 2018: 5,895 FY 2019: 6,216 Total Trips through July 31, 2019: 31,617 No-Show/Missed Trips (Dec. ‘13-Jul. ‘19): 606 Client Cancelled Trips: 10,451

6 Program Participation Requirements
Requirements for PWD Participation: Current Access Eligible Customer Customer is a parent or guardian Customer is responsible for child-care trips Customer took child-care trips in the area served (Northern region)

7 Meeting the Goals of Access Grant
Observed Transportation Gap Challenges to get children to and from school, after-school activities, etc. With PWD, program participants indicated Children arrived at school on time Students had perfect attendance Parents able to get children to multiple schools on time Children to participate in after-school activities previously unable to commit Overall improved quality of life for parents and children

8 Next Steps Operate in current form until brokerage model launch & program expansion Extend benefits of program to Access parents across Access’ service area. Ongoing efforts to develop PWD partnerships
