Telling Time Amber Dundas 2nd grade Mathematics
Functional ability level - Kindergarten Rationale: The purpose of this digital textbook is to assist a 2nd grade student who is struggling with learning time on an analog clock. This lesson will break down the process of telling time to help the student understand. The GLCEs for this lesson include… M.UN Using both A.M. and P.M., tell and write time from the clock face in 5 minute intervals and from digital clocks to the minute; include reading time: 9:15 as nine-fifteen and 9:50 as nine-fifty. Interpret time both as minutes after the hour and minutes before the next hour, e.g., 8:50 as eight-fifty and ten to nine. Show times by drawing hands on clock face. M.UN Use the concept of duration of time, e.g., determine what time it will be half an hour from 10:15.

Integration into lesson…
I will integrate this digital textbook into lesson by using it as an introduction to telling time. This lesson will help establish to the students the different hands on the clock before they begin actually telling time. The lesson could also be used to help assess the students ability to tell time during the unit, or at the end of the unit.
