Get Out Get Active (GOGA) will provide a range of engagement activities over a three-year period from September 2016 – September 2019 to engage disabled and non-disabled participants into sport and physical activity. Leisure Centres 8 fantastic leisure centres providing affordable sport and leisure facilities, as well as a range of programmes to help people of all ages and abilities become more active through physical activity and sport including tennis, squash, badminton and Nottingham Swim School. All of our leisure centres are accredited facilities and have been verified as being an accessible venue for disabled people by CredAbility – an independent quality mark run by disabled people. Swimming 7 fantastic swimming pools which run a comprehensive range of sessions across the week Swimming is a great form of all-round exercise. Ideal if you want to be more active and stay healthy, whatever your age or ability. Regular swimming can reduce the risk of chronic illnesses, such as heart disease, type 2 diabetes and stroke. It can also boost mood and keep weight under control Sessions available include Swim School, public swimming, various aqua classes and specialist female only and dementia swimming sessions

This Girl Can Swim Dedicated swim time for girls and ladies aged 14+
Female lifeguards Female pool helpers during the session to meet and greet on poolside, provide guidance and support, answering any questions FREE access to the health suite after the swim and up to 30 minutes after the swim session has finished (subject to health suite opening times and availability) Full list of sessions can be found on

Dementia Swimming New programme of Dementia Swimming sessions in partnership with the Alzheimer’s Society to provide a swimming experience in a safe and supportive environment for those diagnosed with dementia. Nottingham City Council operates a carer goes free scheme and the carer is welcome to go into the water also. Project Officer on site specifically to support individuals to access the session and answer any questions they may have. Full information please visit

This Girl Can Nottingham is a celebration of active women across the county who are doing their thing, no matter how they look and how well they do it Over 500 women in 6 weeks took part in a TGC activity or event in 2016 “It’s so important for women to have good self-esteem and confidence to try sport” “Before I joined this group I had not been on a bike for over 30 years”
