1 Mean body weights (grams) of athymic female mice implanted with MDA-MB-231 breast carcinoma xenografts. Mean body weights (grams) of athymic female mice implanted with MDA-MB-231 breast carcinoma xenografts. All animals were s.c. implanted with MDA-MB-231 breast carcinoma cells (5 × 106) in the right flank. Following tumor establishment (14 days, tumor volume ∼300 mm3), mice were stratified by body weight and tumor volume and randomly assigned to receive doxorubicin (4 mg/kg every 7 days), exercise training (18 m/min, 0% grade, 45 minutes, 5 d/wk for 8 weeks), doxorubicin + exercise or no intervention control. Tumor volume and body weight were measured twice weekly. There were no significant differences in body weight between the groups over the course of the study (P > 0.05). Lee W. Jones et al.
