1 Greetings from the Zoo! On our trip to the Zoo, we see a lot of people! Some we may know from home, from school or from our community. How should we greet each person? Let’s see!

2 First, you see your friend. How can you greet your friend?
Say “Hey!” Give a kiss.

3 Then you see your Mom. How would you greet her?
Shake her hand Give a hug

4 You see your mailman. How should you greet him?
Say “Hello.” Give him a hug.

5 You see someone you don’t know. Do you greet them?
Yes No

6 You are right!!! We greet our friends with words like “hello” and “hey.” You can also give them a high-five or a wave.

7 No way! We try to save kisses for our close family. When we kiss people we can pass germs, so we do not want to kiss people that are not our family.

8 Good Job!!! Because our mom is someone that is part of your family and you close to, you can give her a hug when you see her. You do not have to; Instead you could just say “Hey Mom!”

9 Try Again… Usually you shake hands when you meet people or if you see someone that you have not seen in a long time. You see your mom every day, so a hand shake would not be appropriate.

10 Good job!!!! When we see people from our community that we know, it is nice to say “hello” or “hey” to them.

11 Try again! Since the mailman is someone you know from your community and not a close friend or family member, you should just say “hey” or “hello”.

12 That is right!!! You should never talk to someone you do not know. It is not safe and sometimes it can be rude or impolite.

13 No Way! You should never speak to people you do not know. If you want to, you may smile at them. It is not safe to talk to someone you do not know even if they speak to you.

14 Now that we have practiced at the Zoo, we are ready to practice in other places! Remember to never greet someone that you do not know, unless someone you know is introducing you to that person! I know that you will do great! If you ever have trouble with greetings, just think about our trip to the zoo!
