1 The BFG Roald Dahl By: Colleen, Olivia, Gianni, and Steven
Illustrated by Quentin Blake

2 Book Summary My job is the Super Summarizer. The author is Roald Dahl and the illustrator is Quentin Blake. The genre of the book is fantasy. Sophie is an orphan who saw the BFG blowing his long, thin, dream trumpet into Mr. and Mrs. Goochey’s house. The BFG stands for the Big Friendly Giant. The BFG saw Sophie watching him, so he walked over to Sophie who was pretending to be asleep, picked her up and carried her to his cave. There are other giants that eat people but the BFG doesn’t. The BFG has big ears so he can hear a pin a mile away. Sophie and the BFG became very good friends. They both got sick of the bad giants so they made a plan to get rid of them. The BFG likes to collect dreams. So he and Sophie made a nightmare to get the Queen on their side, to get rid of the giants. The Queen’s nightmare was that the giants were eating her whole town. Sophie was sitting on the window pane when the Queen woke up. The BFG and the Queen met after Sophie told him to come out from his hiding spot. The Queen gave the BFG a breakfast of at least 2 tons of eggs, sausage, and bacon. Then, the Queen’s army helped tie up the giants and carried them in helicopters. Read this hysterical book to find out what else happens to the bad giants! Olivia

3 Creative Connector Text-to-Self Connection- I can relate to Sophie because she is small and tiny and I am small and tiny too. Text-to-Text Connection- I can relate the book to James and the Giant Peach because it is similar to the BFG since they both have the giants in them. The BFG and James and the Giant Peach are both fantasy books, and they are written by the same author, Roald Dahl. Text-to-World Connection- Counselors are mean to Sophie and there are probably dormitories where there may be mean counselors. Colleen

4 Character Web Friendly
The BFG is friendly, because he doesn’t eat “human beans” and cares about people rather than the evil giants. Helpful The BFG is helpful because he helped Sophie to trap the other giants.
